On September 22nd, 2025, the AMHS celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Society by a group led by Lucio and Edvidge D’Andrea, who were dedicated to promoting Italian language, culture and education and to preserve the heritage of immigrants and the descendants of immigrants from Abruzzo and Molise. President Chris Renneker welcomed 30 members and guests to the celebration.
Lucio’s and Edvidge’s daughter, Maria D’Andrea-Yothers, who herself is a former President of and longtime active member of the Society, about the trials and joys our society has experienced over the past 25 years. The event featured five additional speakers, including founding member and former President Ennio Di Tullio, who spoke about early efforts to fund the Society, including the organization of gala celebrations. Former Vice President Nancy DeSanti shared her extensive experience in hosting events for the Society, including the upcoming wine tasting. We heard from Immediate Past President Raymond LaVerghetta about our successes with the Scholarship Program, highlighting the upcoming awards. Additionally, Lynn Sobara, another longtime member who has held several offices in the Society, shared the journey and stories about the AMHS from its inception.
We look forward to 25 more years of events, galas, and scholarship awards.
