AMHS Elections Will Be Held in November
In November 2026, the AMHS will hold elections to fill the four officer positions — President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary — as well as two seats on the six-member Board of Directors. All voting will be conducted by the Nominating Committee via email in accordance with the AMHS bylaws.
All AMHS members in good standing are eligible to vote. Those holding the status of Regular members (those living within a 50-mile radius of Washington, D.C.) are eligible to run for office.
President Chris Renneker, Vice President Rico Allegrino and Secretary Joseph Scafetta, Jr., will again be candidates for their respective offices. Current Treasurer Peter Bell will not be a candidate for re-election.
On or before November 1, members will receive an email ballot. Instructions on filling out and returning the ballots will be included. Here is the language of Article VI, Section 3 of the AMHS bylaws:
“Elections of officers and directors shall take place in the month of November. Members must submit their votes electronically to the Nominating Committee within thirty (30) days after receiving the notice of elections. Members may vote for other members not proposed by the Nominating Committee, contingent upon the consent of the other members. The Nominating Committee shall be responsible for counting the votes. The candidate for each office receiving the most votes shall be declared elected to that office for the ensuing term. The elected candidates shall assume office on the following January 1st and be installed at the first general membership meeting of each year.”
The Board of Directors consists of six members serving staggered three-year terms. Each year, the terms of two members expire, and replacements are elected. Board members may not serve consecutive three-year terms. The 2026 election will replace Anthony Andreoli and Teresa Talierco, whose terms expire at the end of the calendar year.
Any member in good standing interested in running for a position should contact the two Nominating Committee members before September 21 when the next general membership meeting will be held and candidates will be introduced. The members of the Nominating Committee are:
