IN MEMORIAM, NICOLA FERRANTE

We are incredibly saddened by the passing of long-time AMHS member Nicola (Nick) Ferrante on March 29, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Gay J. Ferrante; loving father of Lisa Ferrante (Simon) Leath and Robert (Isela) Ferrante; and cherished grandfather of Emma Leath. Nick survived war and economic hardship as a child. He immigrated to the United States at the age 18 from Abruzzo, Italy, where he built his life and family.

He was a skilled tilesetter working at the US Capitol for many years, under the direct leadership of the Chief Architect of the Capitol. He loved wine making, crabbing and working with his hands. At every AMHS event he attended – a general Society meeting or the Ferragosto picnic – Nick would greet you with his homemade wine. He was generous and gregarious and he will be deeply missed.
