I am writing to accept the offer of the Abruzzo Molise Heritage Society's 2006-2007 scholarship, and to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generosity shown by yourself and the AMHS.  The receipt of one of your organization's annual scholarships is an enormous honor, and it will quickly have an impact on my Italian studies.  It is a wonderful opportunity to be a student of Italian cultural and language studies, and I would like to thank you and the AMHS for helping me in this pursuit.

The final year of college is one of uncertainty for many students.  Thinking about the future and what to expect can be very disconcerting.  The privilege of a good education opens up many opportunities.  When I feel frustrated by the difficult decisions that lie ahead, I often imagine my father who comes from a long line of fishermen.  At my age, his passion was for the sea.  As I get closer to graduating, the greatest certainty I have is to further study Italian language and literature.  Despite very different circumstances, I am making a similar choice to that of my father… I choose to pursue something that I love.

It is an absolute honor to receive this recognition from the Abruzzo and Molise Heritage Society.  Much of my education would not have been possible without the help of others and I am truly thankful for this scholarship.  The generosity of the AMHS will allow me to dedicate more time to working on my Italian honors thesis this year.  Grazie mille!

Congratulations
