I was born in Providence,
Rhode Island to parents of Italian descent.
My grandparents and my mother were born in Fornelli, a small town in Molise.
Due to the great influence my grandparents have had on me, I learned Italian as
my first language (or, rather, an Italian dialect called Fornellese). I have
visited Italy
many times and I love going there to spend time with my great grandmother,
cousins, uncle, aunts, and other friends who I have met on my various trips
there. I am currently a sophomore at the George
Washington University
majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science, with a minor in Italian. I
hope to spent my junior year studying abroad in Florence,
and after I graduate I would like to attend graduate school in Italy.
I am very honored to receive this scholarship and am deeply grateful to the
Abruzzo and Molise Heritage Society.
Congratulations
